reflections on Psalm 23

no 2
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me by quiet waters, He restores my soul.

Dappled sunlight and the soothing sound of quiet waters.
this may calm jangled nerves and de-stress the commuter.
The calming effects filter into our feelings and we seem better.
but 'restore the soul'? What does that mean?
Every line begins with 'He'. He restores, He makes, He leads.
This is Shepherd work, Jesus Christ's work as far as we are concerned.
Our core being is the soul, it is eternal.
when the soul is tuned, or programmed right, it comes alive, it is restored.
Christ can restore our eternal soul.
change is then radiated from within and everything is different.
green pasture in Hebrew has the root meaning home.
to be in Christ, is to be at home, to lie down in a pleasant place.
