Welcome to Christianity Explored!

Whoever you are, whether you have been to church before or not, we welcome you to this Christianity Explored course which will run on 14, 21, 28 October.

Christianity Explored is for anyone who wants to learn more about the key features of Christianity. If you know absolutely nothing and want to find out something this is the place for you. If you already have some background in Christianity, but feel uncertain about what it is really all about, or how the important truths fit together, we hope you will find Christianity Explored helps a lot.

The sessions will explore three questions that are at the heart of Christianity: Who was Jesus? Why did he come? What is involved in following him?

Don’t be afraid to ask questions, no matter how simple, or how difficult, you think they are. If you miss a week, don’t worry you can always ask for a quick summary of what you have missed.
Each week there will be food and drink available from 7.30-8.15pm for anyone who wants it. This may be particularly helpful for anyone who comes straight from work. Let us know if you have any particular dietary requirements. If you don’t want to eat just feel free to mingle until the rest of the session is ready to start.

Our guide to help us answer our questions about Jesus is one of the books of the Bible, named after the man who wrote it, Mark. Mark starts by telling us that Jesus is God in human form. By reading Mark, you have the opportunity to prove, or disprove, the writer’s claim.
If you have your own copy of the Bible or New Testament, feel free to bring it along, but there will be plenty of Bibles available at each session for you to use, or borrow for further investigation.
Each week’s session will begin with a group discussion, followed by a DVD presentation of that week’s main theme (given by Rico Tice from All Souls church, Langham Place, London) and then a further discussion. (If you are not good at talking don’t feel that you have to say anything during the discussion!)

The timetable looks like this:
7.30pm-8.15pm (optional) Food and general social chat.
8.15pm  Session starts with a general Group discussion.
DVD presentation of the session’s main theme.
Discussion of what we have heard/learnt so far.
9.30, at latest. Finish.

It would be really helpful if you can let us know of your interest in this course even if you can’t come on this occasion. Your name and a contact point, telephone number, e-mail address, or house address, would be helpful. But turn up on the evening, even if you haven’t notified us in advance!
